Tokyo Story

Yasujiro Ozu made comtemporary films about Japanese families. He is famous for a low-angle camera "tatami-eye view", evident in the photo above.

Tokyo Story (1953) is about adult children and aging parents, so I can certainly identify with the situation. The aftermath of the war and everyday life in Japan at that time is interesting as well. The DVD has a good commentary on the craft of the film.
