Lunar Eclipse on October 27

The photo above came in the email from Melita Travel, the folks who organized our trip to Iceland last year.

I stretched out on the floor in my hotel and watched this beautiful event in a clear Florida sky.

Below is another great photo taken by my uncle in Pennsylvania:

Techfest in Orlando, Florida

Above is a photo (taken through a bus window) of the hotel where I stayed. RSA Security has a technical training trip for its sales engineers twice a year. Given that I have a lot to learn, I thought I would give it a try. A bit off the mark for me, but I really enjoyed meeting a lot of people there and know I will keep up some of these friendly business relationships.

The conference kept me too busy to see much of Florida, but I do want to go back. Very flat, very swampy, not the desert that I now call home.

Daniel's birthday trip to SLO

Ken and I drove down to San Luis Obispo (SLO) to see Daniel on October 22. Dan had his 22nd birthday on October 18. We drove to See Canyon, a pretty valley where they were harvesting apples. Also had a couple of good meals and enjoyed meeting Daniel's house's cat MacGiver. Here is a photo of Ken in a heavy chin scratching session with "Mac".

So long, Mike.

I haven't felt like posting to my blog lately. My good friend Mike Berg was in the hospital, and we knew he wouldn't live much longer. He died Sunday morning.

Mike had a serious cancer diagnosis three years ago and he beat the odds to live this long. One of the benefits of my long unemployment was that I got to spend a lot of time with him.

Mike was funny, crusty, super smart, and made me laugh so many times. He got me interested in doing a blog. I guess part of the fun was that I knew Mike would read it.

He leaves his partner Bill, a niece, and many, many friends.
